About this class:
This junior course is a historical survey course. We will study American Literature from 1600s–1900s, the country’s “beginnings” to the Modern Period. The main objective in a chronological study is to demonstrate how a writer’s beliefs, life experiences, and time period affect the way in which he views the world and the literature he creates. To make these connections, students will interact with a variety of texts through questioning, analyzing, responding, note-taking, and participating in discussions.
